FOOD RELIEF, NOT FOOD RESCUE: THE DIFFERENCE THAT MATTERS

We don't manage waste. We create meals with dignity.

While others redistribute surplus food nearing its expiry date, we purchase fresh ingredients and prepare chef-quality meals. This isn't about being different for the sake of it. It's about providing dignified food relief to everyone we serve.

THE TRADITIONAL FOOD-RESCUE MODEL:
Accepts surplus and near-expired food
Limited nutritional control
Inconsistent meal quality
Recipients seen as solution to waste problem
Focus on quantity distributed
THE ALEX MAKES MEALS MODEL:
Purchase fresh, quality ingredients
Chef-prepared in professional kitchens
Consistent nutritional standards (600+ calories)
Recipients treated as valued community members
Focus on dignity and nutrition

NOURISHING PEOPLE AND PLANET

Dignity for people doesn't mean compromising our planet.

ZERO FOOD WASTE

All ingredients used, including trimmings for stocks, are fully accounted for in our operations. By employing precise demand forecasting, we prevent any overproduction of meals. In the event of excess meals, they are immediately sent to emergency relief on the same day. Additionally, organic waste is composted through a council programme.

ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING

We use 100% recyclable meal containers along with biodegradable labels and adhesives. Our reusable delivery crates eliminate cardboard waste, and our partner locations facilitate the return of containers for recycling.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

The majority of our ingredients (80%) are sourced from within 100km of Melbourne, and seasonal menu planning significantly reduces transportation emissions. Partnerships with local suppliers bolster Victorian farmers, while bulk purchasing leads to a 60% reduction in packaging waste.

CARBON FOOTPRINT REDUCTION

Our primary kitchen is powered by 100% renewable energy, using energy-efficient commercial equipment.
