Nelson Alexander and AMM, how local partnerships benefit everyone
On 17 July 2025, a fantastic crew from Nelson Alexander swapped open homes for aprons and joined us in the AMM kitchen. Together, we cooked 400 nutritious, ready‑to‑heat meals for people doing it tough across Melbourne. It was a day of teamwork, good humour, and serious impact.
Why this day mattered
When local businesses roll up their sleeves, the ripple effects are immediate. Those 400 meals went straight to our community partners supporting people facing food insecurity—families, older neighbours, students, and folks between jobs. The Nelson Alexander team didn’t just volunteer; they invested in dignity and comfort for hundreds of people who needed a lift that week.
A big gift on Foundation Day
This year marks 20 years of the Nelson Alexander Foundation backing local causes. On Foundation Day 2025, the Foundation raised $251,706 across their offices—and the Commercial Office chose to support Alex Makes Meals with a generous $10,000 donation. That contribution keeps our ovens on, fridges stocked, and delivery vans moving.

What we cooked
With the help of Nelson Alexander’s team, our chefs led a fast‑paced session focused on flavour, nutrition, and consistency at scale. By day’s end, we’d prepared and packed 400 meals—each one labelled with heating instructions and best‑before guidance—ready to be distributed through our partner network.
